Small Groups
God exists as a trinitarian community. The love of the Father, the life of the Son, and the power of the Spirit are to be reflected in the unity of the church, the family of God. Our community expresses God's communal life in the context of home communities or small groups.
Small Groups are our primary ministry and context around which our church is built. We don't really have "ministries" in the traditional sense, rather we realize that healthy Christian communities will minister to those within their community and to the world around them. We believe that simplicity aids community and community honors God.
Your participation in a small group is highly encouraged. We believe that many of the New Testament commands to love one another can only be accomplished in the context of authentic caring relationships. Jesus said to love God was to obey God - and one of God's commands is to love each other. This love is not the "world's love" but a genuine desire and effort to meet the needs of those around us (1 John 3:16-18).
You can join any small group at SVC you want. We have groups that meet at different times, different geographical locations, and on different nights of the week. You can choose whatever works best for you. If you like, you may try a few different groups out until you find your right fit.
We are currently discussing questions drawn from our Sunday morning sermons. These questions are designed to take us deeper into the truths of scripture and help us apply them to our daily lives. Join a Small Group and find out what it is to be a part of Life in the Body of Christ!
