Student Ministries Fall Calendar released!
COSM's Fall Calendar has been released, with dates for all of the Wednesday Gatherings and special events taking place through the end of December. You can access the full calendar here: COSM Fall Calendar. With the advent of a new school year, now is the perfect time to commit to Body life at SVC. The reason that student ministries exists is not to fill in people's already busy calendars (despite what some may think). Rather, "Crossed Out Student Ministries exists as an expression of Sun Valley Church's Family Ministries, to purposefully partner with parents to cultivate biblical discipleship with their students, and to challenge students to lives of Christ-centeredness in all things" (from the Philosophy of Ministry).
Sunday Gatherings (9:00-10:15 am) are the primary means of expositional teaching and interactive biblical instruction within the student ministries framework. In this setting, students are - as a rule - taught the Word of God verse-by-verse, book-by-book, with concurrent group process discussions and interaction to facilitate holistic integration of the Word into all of life.
Wednesday Gatherings serve the simultaneous purposes of: (a) cultivating group cohesion through God-honoring fun and games; (b) topical life-application teaching/process from the Word of God; (c) mid-week encouragement for students to strive after God outside of Sunday morning worship.
Ongoing special events - like those on COSM's Fall Calendar - are designed to get students and leaders together for the sake of building up relationship with each other in a low-key, fun-filled setting.
Let's commit to these things together, for if we're not together, we cannot deeply fellowship with one another. And if we don't deeply fellowship with one another, we will find the uphill battle of the Christian life even more steep and difficult. See you soon!
