Our Story
"The church of Jesus Christ is the most important institution in the world. The assembly of the redeemed, the company of the saints, the children of God are more significant in world history than any other group, organization, or nation. The United States of America compares to the church of Jesus Christ like a speck of dust compares to the sun. The drama of international relations compares to the mission of the church like a kindergarten riddle compares to Hamlet or King Lear. And all pomp of May Day in Red Square and the pageantry of New Year's in Pasadena fade into a formless grey against the splendor of the bride of Christ. Take heed how you judge. Things are not what they seem. "All flesh is like grass. And all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord (and all his family) abide forever" (1 Peter 1:24, 25). The media and all the powers, and authorities, and rulers, and stars that they present are a mirage. "For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God" (Luke 16:15). The gates of Hades, the powers of death, will prevail against every institution but one, the church." ~John Piper
Sun Valley Church is part of this grand picture! Here is our story...
The Story of Sun Valley Church
We are a relatively young church. Our first Sunday was March 16th, 2003. Our mother church is West Side Baptist Church of Yakima, Washington. In 2000 the elders of West Side Baptist decided it would be strategically important for West Side to reach out and be kingdom oriented in the greater Yakima area. It was at that time that they began to research the possibility of planting a daughter church in this region. East Valley was the chosen site for the church plant.

In 2001 the idea of planting a daughter church was presented to West Side Baptist Church congregation and they were asked to pray for the idea and to consider whether they should participate themselves for the cause of Christ. In September of 2002 a small group of committed people started to gather on a monthly basis to hold separate services in the West Side Youth Center (Oasis) in preparation for starting in the spring of 2003. Sun Valley Church's first official worship service was held on March 16, 2003 in the East Valley High School auditorium.
Sun Valley Church started with around 75 adults and has grown to over 200+ in total attendance on any given Sunday.

In July of 2010 God worked through the congregation of Gateway Fellowship moving them to give us their building! What a IMMENSE blessing! We have remodeled the building to suit our needs and SVC began holding Sunday services there in March 2011.

We continue to look to God for direction and trust him for everything we do. Soli Deo Gloria! Please stop and pray right now for God's blessing on SVC.
