Of Seminars and Prisons
We're entering into our last five weeks of the spring quarter Sunday Seminars, and there are a couple of changes in location. This is also a perfect time to join one of the seminars, even if you haven't been there this quarter so far. (Please, always join when you would like to benefit from the sound teaching and fellowship of the Sunday Seminars!)
Here's a snapshot of what's going on and where what's going on is happening:
Fundamentals of the Faith: This seminar is a walk-through of twelve foundations of the Christian faith - doctrinal and biblical. Jon Delamarter labors faithfully each week to bring people into a fresh encounter with the great truths of the Faith that distinguish us as Christians. This seminar will be in the Sanctuary for the remainder of the quarter.
The New Birth: Chuck Halley is facilitating a video seminar from Dr. Steven J. Lawson on the glorious doctrine of regeneration - how the Holy Spirit brings life to spiritually dead sinners in the process of being born again. This seminar is in the Commons, which is newly built.
Last Sunday, Pastor John preached from Hebrews 13:3:
"Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body."
You have an opportunity to put that into practice in a tangible way that will cost you 10 minutes and a stamp!
In the lobby by the Sanctuary, by the coffee bar, are a set of letterheads intended for your family or you to write a letter of encouragement to a Christian overseas who is imprisoned for his or her faith, or to the family of an imprisoned Christian. Guidelines for letter-writing are included, as well as the address for the Voice of the Martyrs office where you can send the letters. Your letter(s) will be translated, and forwarded securely to a believer in prison or his family.
Please take this easy opportunity to live out Hebrews 13:3.
Soli Deo Gloria
